About M&MV LLEN
The Maribyrnong and Moonee Valley Local Learning and Employment Network (M&MV LLEN), is one of the initial 15 local planning networks established by the Victorian State Government. Local Learning and Employment Networks (LLENs) were established in 2001 in Victoria to improve education, training and employment options for 10–19 year olds, particularly those at risk of making poor transitions from compulsory schooling to the next stage of their lives and careers. From 1 January 2010 the M&MV LLEN will deliver the School Business Community Partnership Brokers program.
We bring together local education providers, local employers, local councils and other interested people in their community to:
- Identify gaps in the provision of education and training locally;
- Plan the development and delivery of educational programs for young people which will assist in meeting the targets for better completion rates and employment outcomes;
- Take a strategic approach to developing pathways for local young people, especially those at risk of dropping out;
- Monitor these pathways and outcomes to ensure they are beneficial to young people; and
- Advise the new Victorian Skills Commission (VSC) on the needs of young people in their area.
Our Vision
We aim to improve education, training and employment outcomes of young people aged 15-19 years, particularly those at risk of disengagement.
Our Mission
The M & MV LLEN will foster post-compulsory education and training to ensure that it satisfies the needs of employers and industry, community and the diversity of young people by:
- Increasing participation and attainment in education, training and employment by all young people, through facilitating the development of flexible and high quality education and training opportunities in the Maribyrnong and Moonee Valley communities
- Planning for the provision of quality education and training through analysis of employment opportunities, alternative education programs, community needs and opportunities, and support services for transition procedures
- Providing advice to the Victorian Skills Commission
- Promoting, supporting and encouraging pathways planning of all alternatives and the provision of comprehensive information and guidance to enable well-informed life choices
- Undertaking a critique of current and future education and training policy and programs
- Advocating with, and on behalf of, young people in the policy debate
