INFO UPDATE

Hi to all in the YMAP family,

A big welcome to all the new members.

I was planning a newsletter around this time, but this week has really gotten away from me so I will limit this to some dot point information, covering a number of topics.

But I won’t start before tossing in something cute!

And I won’t start before also mentioning how fantastic you people have been in our programs this year. Nothing has summed up the tremendous work you do better than a recent unsolicited comment to me from a particularly important person in one of our partner schools quite recently.

“I really don’t know how our VCAL students would survive the year without the YMAP program”, she told me. And without you people there would not be a YMAP program. So thank you all once again, and again, and again!

OK, now the stuff you might need to know:

-         For those of you on the Monday Braybrook program, don’t forget that Monday, June 13 is Queens Birthday public holiday. So no school that day;

-         And a little further down the track, term break for school holidays commences Monday, July 4 and ends on Friday, July 15. So obviously no school;

-         The end date for the current Braybrook program is Monday, June 20. However, as discussed, it is hoped mentors will set aside Monday, June 27 to go out and support their mentees in their work experience placement;

-         The final day for the current Strathmore program is Tuesday, June 28; and

-         One last call re the mid-year mentor party. As a general rule we have traditionally had a YMAP mentor get-together every six months, one at Christmas and one about now. We like to get the YMAP family together to share stories and relax over some food and drinks. Unfortunately we still don’t have the numbers, which likely means our winter party won’t go ahead.
