Boyd Maplestone joined MMVLLEN as CEO in July 2018 after recently working in community education and local government. Boyd is a previous CEO of the Central Ranges LLEN and careers and transitions project officer at Youth Now based in Sunshine. Boyd’s career commenced as youth worker in residential care while studying at University, followed by working as a case worker for Smith Family and as a welfare coordinator in a school in west London. Since then, Boyd has moved into partnership broker work and project management including Executive Officer, management and leadership roles.
Boyd has a Bachelor of Humanities and Social Sciences with Honours, undertaking an Honours thesis on youth identity in the Australian hip hop scene. In 2012, Boyd graduated from Leadership Victoria’s Igniting Leadership program and has been the secretary and company director of the Murrindindi Training Institute and sits on PRACE Colleges Independent school committee.
Boyd’s first job was tutoring neighbours and family friends in guitar and mathematics learning the importance of good preparation and patience! Boyd lives in a near by suburb with his partner and two daughters and is excited to be working back in the west and supporting local young people to achieve great education, training and employment outcomes.
